	Die Deponie bestand aus Plastik, Flaschen, Deckel, Tüten, Ballons, Styroporbecher, Waschmittelkanister, Durcheinander von Fischernetzen oder Teile von irgend etwas.
	Charles Moore, der in Kalifornien wohnt, hat 1997 nach seiner Pazifikfahrt cirka 1600 Kilometer von der Küste entfernt einen neuen Kontinent entdeckt. Das ist kein Witz! Für ihn war jene Entdeckung der Schreck seines Lebens.
	Moore war sehr besorgt über seine Entdeckung und wollte auch wissen, was unter dem Meeresspiegel verborgen war.
	Bei der ersten Probe stellte er fest, dass es 6 Mal mehr Plastik als Plankton gab und das zweite Mal, im Jahre 2001, gab es 46 Mal mehr Plastik als Plankton.
