BERLIN/KaDeWe
Hier seht ihr zuerst das Bundeskanzleramt.
Auch von mir zu Berlin:http://www.langedi49.ch/langedi49/exercises_D_2.html
Vielleicht wollt ihr zuerst einige Fragen zu Berlin beantworten.
NUN ZUM KaDeWe -KAUFHAUS DES WESTENS

Who feels like learning English and at the same time play a game? For English see further down.
Lake Ritom/Ticino
From Piotta, in the Leventina Valley in Ticino Switzerland to the Ritom region by the steepest funicular in Europe
It’s really a very special attraction to go up to the Ritom Lake and its uncontaminated and isolated places in the Val Piora
by one of the steepest funiculars worldwide. (Click here to listen to the sentence. Which word is spoken in German?RITOM1
Once up there you have a great choice of excursions or hiking tours. We, for example, just walked around the lake in approximately three hours, picknick inluded.

The other day there was very little water in the lake so that there were sandy beaches I had never seen before. The surrounding was breathtakingly beautiful
thanks to a big variety of flowers, orchids included. (Click here to listen to the sentence and say which word is spoken in German?RITOM3)

VERBS FOLLOWED BY -ING/THAT +INFINITVE
As I’m quite sure that you are yearning to study some grammar, I ‘ve decided to write sentences with
-a)verbs followed by –ing and noun;
-b)verbs followed by –ing or noun or a that-clause;
-c) verbs followed by –ing or infinitive;
-d)verbs followed by the infinitve
Worksheet: Verbs followed by ing+infintiv/that with animals
I’ve therefore developed the following worksheet which I printed and distributed to my learners.
I’ve also printed a sheet in colour and cut out the sentences as well as the pictures indicated here below and put them on a pile.
Now I made my students, one after the other, pick up a card and they had to put them on the right place on the worksheet. While arranging the cards we als made questions
and negative sentences in order to remember the verbs and their construction better and I also made them explain the differences betwen, for example, I forgot buying the milk
(past situation) or don’t forget to buy the milk (futur action).
I’m afraid that those people who are trying to improve their English will have to study these kinds of contructions!!

The seven wonders of the world/SIEBEN WELTWUNDER
DEUTSCH: Siehe unten
Which of these sights (1.Cheops Pyramide, 2.Chinese Wall or 3. Ephesus, one of the biggest and most important ancient Greek cities near Izmir, which belongs now
to Turkey, and the rests of the Arthemise Temple,4. Petra, the great city built by the Nabateans or 5.the Colosseum in Rome) do not belong to the seven ancient
wonders of the world?
This is a very interesting quiz about the seven ancient world wonders and will give you the answers to the above question:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sunken/wonders/
Can you think of any modern world wonders?
-Was bedeutet die Farbe BLAU?
A Horse With No Name
This is one of America’s greatest hits and was writen in 1971. Is it a spiritual song or is it about drugs? It seems that “horse” used to be the streetname for heroin and because of this question there was a controversy in America. For me, Dewey Bunell’s “A Horse With No Name” is more spiritual. He is in the desert, methaphorically this means, that there is an empitness within him but then he is looking around and is slowly discovering the beauty of the world with all its life and meaning. Despite this, however, he realizes that even when you have freedom and life/meaning there are some more profound things and that there is no perfection.
As a child Bunnell spent a good time poking around in the high deserts with his brother when they lived in Vandenberg/California and drove through Mexico and Arizona. He loved the cactus and the heat and tried to catch the sounds of the desert.
The text is easy- also for beginners- and grammatically not too perfect (ain’t), but there is quite a lot to speak about!
Click here below and you can listen to the song and answer some questions I’ve prepared.
